Community Links

Local Community
Extensive links are maintained with the school's local community. Through the tutor programme, students are involved in work with the elderly, young children and care services. Students participating in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme are involved in a wide range of voluntary work, from helping at Gateway Clubs to environmental enhancement schemes.

Industry Links
Links with employers embrace work in the Sciences, Modern Languages, Technology and Art. Employers participate in the PSHE and Careers programmes of the school. A substantial number of Sixth Formers are linked with local companies in running a Young Enterprise manufacturing company.

Primary Schools
The school has well established links with its feeder Primary Schools and each is visited by a member of staff in preparation for student's transfer to secondary school.

Community Use of School
A replacement Sports Hall costing £1.1m was opened in January 2004. The complex includes a four-court main hall as well as a Dance Studio, reception area and changing rooms.
The facility was a joint-funded project with East Devon District Council.

In addition to community use of the main hall and adjacent grass pitches in the evenings, weekends and school holidays, the community have use of the Dance Studio for two
hours each school day.

The school supports a range of charities and each year sums in excess of £4,000 are raised. Fund-raising activities are organised by Form Tutors, the 'Houses', and sometimes as whole school projects.

Colyton Parents' Association
Our parents are active supporters of the school. The aim of the Parents' Association is to provide the best educational and social opportunities for Colyton Grammar students. Parents have supported a number of major projects, including landscaping schemes, new netball courts, video conferencing facilities and the provision of a school mini-bus. In addition, the Parents' Association has funded a number of extra-curricular activities.

A Parents' Association Bulletin is circulated every fortnight and a full School Newsletter is published each half-term.
