In a major new co-production between Theatre Centre and Sheffield Theatres, Katie Redford’s ‘Wish You Weren’t Here’ visited Colyton Grammar School this week.

It tells the story of 16-year-old Mila and her mother Lorna, who whilst on a holiday to their favourite seaside town, discover that their relationship needs just as much attention as the run downtown. Lorna wants to reconnect, Mila wants the world to stop burning, and for that Beach Body Ready poster to disappear. ‘Wish You Weren’t Here’ is a hilarious exploration of family relationships, growing up and finding your way in the world when you think that you are not good enough.

Students from Years 9 and 10 were treated to a performance by Eleanor Henderson and Olivia Pentelow, followed by a Q&A. Year 10 students then attended a workshop with the pair, using parts of the play’s script to build on their own partner work.
